Professional Executive Group (PEG)

Welcome from Alan Mitchell, Clinical Director

As the Clinical Director (CD) of the Renfrewshire CHP one of the tasks which falls to me is to chair the Professional Executive Group (PEG), which is a formal subgroup of the CHP Committee. The PEG is made up of members representing all disciplines and clinical areas in our CHP - GPs, Nurses, AHPs, Optometrists, Psychiatrists, Paediatricians and a number of others.

I believe that the CHP Professional Executive Group is the best opportunity that primary care clinicians have ever had to really influence the direction of an NHS organisation, through a formal clinical decision making body. The PEG members strive to work hard together to deliver a high quality service for our patients and clients within the constraints of good governance - making sure we get it right clinically while paying heed to the budget and also to the needs of the staff who deliver the service.

The work of the Renfrewshire PEG is currently being developed such that it will have a key role in taking forward the Board’s strategies on primary care, long term conditions, and rehabilitation and enablement, alongside the CHP’s statutory and voluntary sector partners.

Three members of the PEG are also members of the CHP Committee - Dr Gerry O'Kane (a GP), Kate Sloan (a nurse working in psychotherapy, a Mental Health specialty) and Michelle Wardrop (a Dietician). Along with the Clinical Director they have a key role in keeping the Committee focused on a clinically driven agenda to serve the health needs of our population.
