West Dunbartonshire Community Health Partnership (CHP) was formed in December 2005. It is responsible for managing and delivering a variety of community-based health care services and leading programmes to improve the overall health of all communities within West Dunbartonshire.
The area that West Dunbartonshire CHP is responsible for follows the boundaries of West Dunbartonshire Council.
West Dunbartonshire has a total population of approximately 92,000. The age-structure of the population of West Dunbartonshire is similar to that of Scotland, with the greatest proportion aged over 45 years. In addition to almost a quarter of households being the homes of pensioners (many of whom live on their own), a growing proportion of households are the homes of lone parent families. Almost one in five residents consider themselves to be carers.
